Alkagesta said it had completed a week of meetings and industry discussions at SIBCON 2026 in Singapore, where marine fuel diversification, supply security and the financing of decarbonisation were prominent themes. In a company account dated 15 October 2026, it described engagement with shipowners, bunker traders, customers and suppliers, including discussions about potential collaboration across the Asia-Pacific region.

According to Alkagesta, conference sessions considered how biofuels, methanol and LNG could sit alongside conventional marine fuels, with their use varying by vessel type and trade route. The company connected those discussions to its own expansion in sustainable fuels, citing a five-year UCO feedstock offtake agreement and a multi-year agreement for biofuel storage at Pantank in Antwerp. Its account did not provide volumes or financial terms for either arrangement.

Supply reliability was another recurring subject, the company reported. Participants discussed diversification as a means of limiting reliance on individual fuel supply sources and improving operators’ resilience amid continuing pressures in global energy markets. Alkagesta’s summary presented the shift towards a broader fuel mix as both a supply-risk management issue and part of the sector’s longer-term transition.

The practical requirements for taking decarbonisation projects beyond pilot programmes also featured in the sessions. Alkagesta said industry leaders identified clearer regulation, safety frameworks and access to financing as important conditions for commercial-scale deployment. Its report described these as discussion themes rather than announcing a new financing arrangement or a project commitment arising from the conference.

The company’s delegation included founder and chief executive Orkhan Rustamov; Tural Huseynov, managing director for investments and asset management; Agshin Bakirzade, APAC commodity trading director; Mithat Çiftçioğlu, marine fuels distribution director; and senior marine fuel trader Afiq Salim. Alongside the formal programme, Alkagesta said the team met established commercial contacts and explored further regional cooperation.
